Reah Arora, the Burnaby East candidate, is a force to be reckoned with in the spheres of politics and social activism. With her diverse experience, serving in and out of government she has earned a reputation for tirelessly advocating for workers' rights, equity and social justice. Reah’s involvement in both grassroots activism and the development of policy has shaped her into a leader committed to creating a more equitable society.

A Political and Social Activist Leader
Reah’s journey in politics began at the community level, where she recognized the power to make change was through labour organizing and electoral politics. Over the years, her engagement with various progressive movements has solidified her reputation as a community based advocate. Whether organizing rallies, training union organizers, working to improve legislation for marginalized communities, or influencing legislative agendas, Reah's efforts have always been centered around improving the lives of everyday people.

Director of BCFED: Fighting for Workers' Rights
One of her notable roles is as the Director of Organizing and Campaigns at the BC Federation of Labour (BCFED), where she has become a prominent advocate for workers' rights. In this capacity, she led campaigns that focused on improving conditions for workers across British Columbia including paid sick leave, changes to WorkSafe to make it more worker focused, Anti-Racism and a particular emphasis on gig workers—who are often left out of traditional employment protections. Her work with BCFED highlights the need to modernize labor laws and offer protections for those in low wage jobs and precarious work.

Reah's leadership at BCFED was marked by a proactive approach. She worked to amplify the voices of workers in both unionized and non-unionized sectors, advocating for fair wages, better working conditions, and comprehensive health and safety protections. Her commitment to workers' rights was not just confined to provincial policy but extended into organizing and empowering workers to harness their collective power and organize.

Championing Gig Workers
In recent years, the gig economy has exploded, creating a labor force that often falls between the cracks of labor regulations. Reah has been a steadfast advocate for gig workers, ensuring their rights are not overlooked. She has consistently called for legislation that acknowledges the unique challenges faced by these workers, including unstable wages, lack of transparency, deactivation without a proper investigation and WCB protection. There is more to do and Reah expects to take her advocacy into the government.

Her efforts in fighting for these workers demonstrate her belief in a just and fair economy where every worker is treated with dignity, regardless of their employment classification. Through her activism, she has pressured policymakers to rethink the needs for the modern workforce.

A Vision for Burnaby East
As the Burnaby East candidate, Reah is eager to bring her experience and activism to the forefront of her campaign. She aims to address key issues such as affordable and accessible housing, climate, affordability, healthcare, people living with disabilities, local business, tech and innovation, K-12 education and post secondary, ensuring that the community is a place where all residents can thrive. Her campaign is built on the pillars of fairness, equality, and social justice, with a particular focus on uplifting the most marginalized.

Reah Arora’s dedication to social activism and workers' rights has defined her career. As she seeks to represent Burnaby East, she brings with her a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to community, and an unwavering belief in the power of people working together for a better future.
